Toby is agricultural economist and private sector development specialist. He combines four years' experience at a leading global agribusiness with over seven years’ experience in development and development finance work, including four years based in Malawi. He is currently working in the Technical Assistance team at FMO - the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank. The focus of his work is leading the Technical Assistance Facility of the MFF Program, which aims to catalyze private investment and scale up climate impact in the tropical forestry and sustainable land use sector. Prior to this he was Deputy Team Leader for the Market Systems Development component (PROSPER Markets) of an FCDO-funded climate change adaptation project in Malawi (BRACC). This followed over two years working as a consultant at a specialist private sector development consultancy in Malawi (Kadale Consultants). Toby previously worked in finance and group strategy at AB Sugar, one of the world's leading sugar producers. During this time, he also qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA).Toby's core strengths include; technical analysis (agriculture/agribusiness, economics, climate adaptation and mitigation), strategy development; commodity market analysis; business finance; project management; monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement; data analysis; reporting and presentation and small team leadership.
