Global Health Strategies is an international consulting firm specializing in advocacy and communications on global public health issues. As a Vice President, I provide strategic counsel to our clients on how to use advocacy and communications to elevate their priorities on global policy agendas. I have worked with clients on a number of critical global health issues, including COVID-19/pandemic preparedness and response, maternal and child health, immunization, infectious diseases (including HIV, TB and malaria), primary health care and universal health coverage.

• Conducted policy analysis on issues relating to anti-Muslim bigotry, countering violent extremism, counterterrorism, drones, refugee policy, immigration reform, and sub-Saharan Africa, including an analysis of the backlash against Syrian refugees in various communities• Wrote and edited advocacy materials, including issue briefs, blog posts, legislative language, hearing questions, and formal letters to U.S. and foreign government officials, including a memo on trends in drone strikes and civilian casualties since 2009• Administered grantmaking portfolios totaling $650,000 on natural resource governance in Africa, U.S. national security and human rights, and refugee issues

• Planned and facilitated several events around the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, including a civil society forum for 18 African civil society activists and a high-level event focusing on natural resource governance • Organized more than 15 advocacy trips for OSF’s African partners (including Kenyan Chief Justice Willy Mutunga)• Wrote and edited advocacy materials, including issue briefs, blog posts, legislative language, hearing questions, and letters to U.S. and foreign government officials • Conducted research assignments, including a memo on the status of the remaining detainees in Guantanamo Bay and an analysis of how to improve the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act• Managed a grantmaking program for youth and families in D.C. struggling with homelessness, from developing the program’s strategy to evaluating the performance of grantees• Developed annual budgets and tracked spending to monitor effectiveness

Washington D.C. Metro Area

As a Project Assistant, I planned and executed several week-long study missions for members of parliament from Afghanistan, Haiti, Peru, Kenya, and Kyrgyzstan. I also researched governance-related resource requests from foreign governments, contributed to several NDI publications and resources, created and maintained a database for NDI’s trainers, and assisted with budgets and grant proposals.

Conducted research on the human rights situation of women in Lebanon and India, developed budget proposals for large conferences and projects, drafted a concept note for a program to support women human rights defenders around the world.

Worked at the Foreign Service Institute in the Crisis Management Training division. As an intern, I helped develop curriculum for Crisis Leadership classes attended by all levels of Foreign Service Officers (FSOs), including by conducting research and interviewing FSOs about their experiences with crisis leadership while serving at overseas posts. I also created a Crisis Video Library of filmed interviews with FSOs for use in training materials.

Assisted Senior Fellow Dr. Ivo Daalder (former Ambassador to NATO) with administrative duties and research for his books A Concert of Democracies and In the Shadow of the Oval Office.
