The Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion Division strives to promote wellness and improve the quality and years of life for Hawaii’s people through effective prevention, detection and management of chronic diseases.---Program Specialist V• Led strategic statewide planning efforts across the Primary Prevention Branch, including nutrition, SNAP-Ed, worksite wellness, school health, tobacco and physical activity programs• Collaborated with public and private partners statewide to advance policies, systems, and environmental changes that support equitable healthy food access and physical activity• Led Worksite Wellness program, develop strategic plan and resources to support employee wellness, and provide technical assistance for over 25 Wellness Champions• Led Nutrition program, communications and policy efforts, including providing nutrition expertise for the Department• Managed federal and state program budgets, grant reporting, grant writing, procurement and contracts• Wrote policy briefs and testimonies for health-related legislation and developed policy priorities -Provided Department testimony for Double Up Food Bucks policy - Passed 2019 -Provided Department testimony for Healthy by Default policy - Passed 2019• Oversaw statewide menu review project to ensure child care facilities are meeting federal nutrition guidelines
