Five years later, he asked me to conduct a new and wide-ranging review to look at how the city is now prepared to cope with a serious terrorist attack, in particular given the changing threat of terrorism facing London. The Review looked, not only at the status of the recommendations that I made in 2016, but also at the learning from the 2017 attacks and more the recent attacks in Streatham and Fishmongers’ Hall. The Review was published in March 2022. -

ChairIndependent Review Into The Deaths Of Young People In Prison Custody Apr 2014 - Apr 2015At the request of the Minister for Prisons an Independent Review was established to look at the self-inflicted deaths of young people in prison custody since 1st April 2007. It was submitted to the Ministry of Justice at the beginning of April 2015 and was published in July 2015. The Government's response was published in December 2015, when a majority of its recommendations were accepted. In the meantime, it has been widely welcomed by stakeholder organisations. Despite its focus on the deaths of young people, the report is wide-ranging and in practice is the fullest independent review of penal policy for at least thirty years.
