The Independent Advisory Board reports to the Ministerial Board on Deaths in Custody and is sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Department of Health. It provides advice on how to reduce the number of people who die in the custody of the State - i.e. in prisons, police custody, immigration detention, secure mental health.
