Toby Russell is a pioneering technology, mobility, financial services and fintech CEO and Board member, with more than two decades of experience in high-growth scaling, strategy, mobile technology, financial and digital transformation, fundraising/IPOs, consumer behavior and ESG. Toby has also led significant transformation within major government institutions, having leveraged his entrepreneurial experience to create significant impact within the US Department of Energy during the first Obama Administration.Toby most recently served as Co-CEO of Shift, the platform to make buying and selling cars simple and accessible to everyone. At Shift he managed the company's P&L growth from a small, private startup to a >$600M in annual revenue, leading the high-growth public company through four private and public fundraising rounds with steadily increasing valuations. Previously, Toby served as Managing Vice President of Digital at Capital One, where he led the bank’s consumer technology transformation, including building the mobile capabilities that drive the majority of Capital One’s new customers and active users.In 2007, Toby co-founded Taxi Magic, the first mobile rideshare booking and payments app- a forerunner to Uber. He also led a $12 billion renewable energy and efficiency investment program for the US Department of Energy and was a Project Leader at the Boston Consulting Group. He has a Doctorate from Oxford University.
