My role at Ashtons is to organise all their conferences, seminars and events. These conferences and events help to promote our Partners in the local business communities and help to bring in new clients and fees.Amongst the many events and seminars I organise are quarterly HR seminars in Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge and regular networking events. I also organise larger annual events such as an Employment Law conference for Colleges and Schools and gala business dinners. I have also launched Ashtons' Charity Golf day.I have responsibility for the events from start to finish including sourcing speakers and venues, creating copy and designs for the marketing materials to promote the events. I assemble guest lists, co-ordinate invites and replies and produce handbooks and support materials. I also handle the customer service and technical issues on the day including registering guests and being the ‘friendly face’ of Ashtons.

I was a key part of the CIPD's Conference and Events team. My role was to ensure the logistics of running a large conference were always up to a top class standard. This included briefing speakers, producing PowerPoint presentations and conference materials.Some of the specific logistical problems I solved included handling hotel requirements of 300 speakers and staff at the CIPD Annual Conference in Harrogate and organising mailshots for attendees at the large conferences.The Conferences also enabled me to demonstrate my customer service skills as I was always in view to help delegates and speakers with questions, problems and enquiries. CIPD was my first events role and I am grateful to them for giving me a break in the industry, I learnt so many skills which I have taken forward and developed with Ashton KCJ.

I spent three years at home looking after my first son. It was extremely rewarding and I loved the chance to fully experience his early years at home. I like to think we have a bond that would not have been there if I hadn't spent that time with him.
