I currently manage ZOS Systems and ISV Support; Enterprise Z hardware; HPE NonStop Operating System/Hardware Support, CICS Support and Mainframe Security Engineering (ACF2 Support). Since May of 2017; we have reduced CICS transaction volumes by over 8 billion per month by implementing VSAM RLS (record level sharing) and other enhancements to the architecture. This has reduced MIPs consumption; which has provided financial benefit and production stability benefits to NFCU. We have implemented a IBM Parallel Sysplex infrastructure for the mainframe environment which will position us to provide clustered active-active availability to our membership. Production Stability was also enhanced by separating the production and test environments into their own Sysplexes. We established twice a year maintenance (RSUs) for all IBM and ISV products; which will allow for ongoing software currency. We have completed the technology refresh for our IBM Mainframe peripherals. This includes new DS8886 disk and new tape libraries that leverage IBM’s encryption technology. The HPE NonStop environment has been enhanced with additional Prognosis functionality and the deployment of the Xypro security suite of products. We completed a hardware, NSK and system software technology refresh for our NonStop environment which included the Connex Business Application in March on 2019.We proudly support more than 13 million Members Worldwide. We serve the men and women of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force and the civilian employees of the Department of Defense and their families. The Mainframe Operations Services Group operates as a part of Zions Management Services Company's (ZMSC) IT Infrastructure Division. This Group Manager position is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the IBM System z; HP NON-STOP (Tandem); IBM AIX/UNIX; Red Hat zLinux and z/VM operating environments for the corporate data centers in Utah and Texas. This includes, but is not limited to, the operating systems, independent software vendors (ISVs) products, hardware configurations and connectivity, capacity and performance management; Computer Operations; Production Control and mainframe (ACF2) platform security. During the eight plus years that I have held this position; we have more than quadrupled processing workloads with no increase in operating costs and no increase in staffing. zVM has been installed on our IFLs and we are currently running multiple Redhat zLinux guests. We have zAAP/zIIP engines enabled and are subscribed to IBM’s sub-capacity licensing. We continue to stay current with operating systems; hardware and ISV products while providing exceptional uptime and system performance to our clients. In March of 2013; Zions Bancorporation participated in IBM’s ESP (Early Ship Program - A program for customers to install, validate, use and comment on IBM products/solutions prior to General Availability) for the new zBC12 mainframe. We successfully went into production with this system in September of 2013. This has allowed us to have the newest business class mainframe in the world and we were also able to cut our operating costs significantly. In December of 2013, we purchased a Enterprise zLinux zBC12 mainframe. We successfully moved our IBM Filenet workload over in less than one year. We are now hosting Filenet for less than half the previous hosting costs and we also completed a successful Disaster Recovery test on the new platform in February of 2015.
