This allowed my team to leverage the broad Albemarle Technology portfolio toward developing chemicals, chemistries and processes with quality and cost advantages over the competition.

Our accomplishments include:1) significant optimization of a custom manufacturing process that reduced waste, catalyst usage and improved chemical selectivity all in a relatively small number of experiments, 2) identification of equipment needs to further build the program, 3) assisting colleagues with transitioning to the new experimental approaches to problem solving.Additionally I consulted internally on the conversion of batch reaction processes to continuous processes on multiple projects, participated in development of new a Corporate Lab Safety policy, participated in Global Training initiatives for new hires and new managers and participated on several internal Technology teams.

This problem had been recognized and studied for more than 30 years. I was able to identify and take a different approach from those of my predecessors and we eventually reached a solid scientific understanding of the problem and plotted a course toward its solution.

Process and product development support for Custom Manufacturing Operations corporate wide. Expertise in Pharma intermediates and API's (GMP and nonGMP), Ag intermediates and Actives, Neutraceuticals and Specialty Polymers.Notably we solved chemical process issues where other teams were unable to. In one instance the problem had existed for more than 2 years and through my leadership and technical contributions, my team solved it in less than 6 months.

Process and Product Development for Halogenated and nonHalogenated Flame Retardants.Developed a novel patented process for the production of low molecular weight anionic polystyrene. My technical contribution in this process enabled the production of a market leading brominated polystyrene product used as a Flame Retardant.

Magnolia, Ar

Conducted bench and plant studies on the commercial products and processes run at the Magnolia site.Made key technical contributions to a new process for the production of the Flame Retardant HBCD. This work lead to 2 patents being granted on the novel process.Developed expertise in the Safe use and handling of up to gallon quantities of elemental Bromine.Provided troubleshooting and start up support to nearly all of the more than 20 products produced at the Magnolia site.
