This role has several major components to it: Training and employee development, Hands-on testing of our products, and developing testing procedures and testing automation to continuously improve the process.Specifically, in the development portion of my role: -Continuously work to automate the department’s testing procedures by developing programs using Python alongside our in-house software suite.-I will develop test procedures for measuring linear accuracy, minimum incremental motion, jitter, and step and settle for complex, multi-axis motion systems.-Write programs utilizing API from in-house software to command motion to a stage and read in signals from the stage and an external sensor; ensure programs have a user-friendly UI that is distributed as an .exe file.-Develop accompanying programs to create standarized data files and PDF plots for external clients.-Create automated test programs that include functions to post-process data using filtering, least-squares linear regression, DC offset removal, etc..-Organize Python programs into repositories managed in BitBucket and SourceTree for version control.In the training and employee development area, I will:-Develop robust training programs and documents to go along with a one-on-one mentorship for new employees.-Create work instructions for general Metrology procedures as well as non-standard customer specific tests.-Regularly hold one-on-one meetings with employees to monitor their development.Finally, the hands-on testing work looks like this:-Design testing fixtures for systems according to customer specific needs.-Work with R&D on the testing portion of new product development, while continuing support on all new products after launch.-Work with Engineering to develop robust testing and integration procedures to deliver to customers.-Regularly attend meetings with Engineering to ensure that our department is apprised of all developments with existing and new products or systems.

At GE I perform a comprehensive inspection on 4 MW solar inverter. Along with that, I thoroughly inspect sub-assembly panels for workmanship, wire routing and termination, and correct components. All of the aforementioned inspections are rooted in IPC and ISO 9001 standards.I will investigate issues in-house through data analysis and observation. Some data based duties include: Compile and analyze data about defects seen and their occurrences. Interpret drawings and wire schematics/charts to verify wire routing and mechanical build components. File NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) for defective materials. Perform dimensional inspections on various components at incoming inspection.I work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve issues, implement new procedures, and investigate ongoing issues related to product quality.I also worked with a team to reduce defects throughout the 4MW product line by compiling and analyzing data and was formally recognized for my efforts.

At this job I maintained databases in Microsoft excel that included sample parts, defects, and inspection results. I inspected parts to ensure they met the customer’s and ISO 9001/TS 16949 standards. Non-conformances were documented thoroughly and analyzed to resolve in-house issues.I provided training on measurement devices and new processes to the operators. First article inspections were performed after machine set up to ensure correct dimensions. I generated engineering drawings for new part start-ups and made samples with a Trotec laser/engraver to confirm correct dimensions and application.

In this role, I diagnosed and rebuilt faulty transmissions based on information from mechanical drawings and data sheets. To better understand the unit, I also learned the manufacturing process and how each station contributed to the final product. This led me to become proficient in the eight and nine speed gear box operations. I also entered and retrieved data from SAP relating to the product being worked on. This facility also operated by ISO 9001/TS 16949 standards.

As an inspector here, I dealt primarily with dimensional characteristics and spring load characteristics. Spring rates and loads were tested with computer based load testing machines that had to be set up specifically for each order being processed.I performed first-article and in-process inspections. I also documented all non-conformances according to department standards, and analyzed NCR data to provide supplier feedback or resolve in-house issues.As I progressed, my duties included delegation of work flow and personnel for order processing. I also produced and tested new product samples based on data from load analysis machines. I trained operators on various machines including spring grinders, shot peeners, and spring compression machines.
