As the sole creative writer in this 50,000 person company, I was a creative director and head of branded content in the marketing division. Part of my role was to help build a complete creative capability in-house (essentially, an internal advertising agency). Major projects included the first brand launch in seven years, a total reboot of the company's tone of voice, and a visual look/feel refresh for this 235-year-strong bank with employees in 35 countries, $1.8 trillion under management, and $35 trillion under custody. Minor historical detail: Alexander Hamilton founded this bank.

Co-founded with Jason Koxvold, Gnomic worked with agencies and direct-to-client as a cross-disciplinary branding consultancy. Based in New York City, we helped people express themselves succinctly, no matter what the audience or medium - from an app to a building, from a tweet to a TV commercial. Our personal projects informed our professional work, and vice versa.We worked closely with strategy to ensure a solid (and valid) foundation for creative storytelling. Clients included Cadillac, Rolex, Gillette, Google, Uniqlo, Unilever, Etihad Airways, Spotify, and DuPont at these agencies: Grey, J. Walter Thompson, Rokkan, Havas, BBH, B-Reel, and R/GA. We provided deep insight in strategy, brand voice/tone, product development, copywriting, design, art direction, photography, and production.

Bristol Bay, Alaska

Worked as a crewman on a 22 foot skiff catching sockeye salmon during the summer run in Bristol Bay, Alaska (specifically Graveyard Point). Our two-man team used 300 foot long set-nets to catch over 30 tons of fish. As the weak link of our crew, I was likely responsible for ~12 tons.

Greater New York City Area

As co-managing director and lead creative of Gotham (an Interpublic Group agency), I made great strides in improving the quality of work and developing a positive/humane/encouraging culture. My responsibilities included management of both the creative and production staff, rebranding the agency, and executing the design of new workspace.

I provided leadership in concept creation at Co: Collective (a visionary consultancy). I worked with the talented team at B-Reel on Google futurecasting projects. And at Badger & Winters, I played a major role in winning the global AVON business.

I managed teams and created advertising campaigns for Jim Beam bourbon. Emirates airlines tasked us with making them a luxury brand with a new global campaign. I also made a big impact for the small-in-stature Smart Car.

Worked in NYC as a project-based freelancer at agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA, Razorfish, Digitas, etc.

Led the charge in re-integrating Arc (Digital) with Leo Burnett (Traditional) as a Copywriter/Creative Director working on the Kellogg's account (web, print, TV). I had two ECDs who believed that smart thinkers could easily work across all disciplines–and I proved them right.

Spent several years as co-creative lead and principal copywriter for U.S. Army web initiatives including GoArmy.com. Participated heavily on new business pitches (Capital One, Purina, Raytheon).
