• Served as scientific advisor and representative for the head founder and director of the institute on critical therapeutic internal and external projects• Led program design and transition of key institutional project from gene discovery to an ongoing full drug discovery and novel biology research program, resulting in the progression from gene discovery with unknown biology to candidate therapeutics• Held oversight responsibility for innovative clinical development program to enable a Phase 1 clinical trial of individualized cancer vaccines

•Responsible for hiring, supervision and resourcing of multiple small to mid-sized teams (16 scientists) working on core company goals focused on identification, in-licensing and pre-clinical to clinical development of small molecules. Successfully generated data enabling multiple P1/2 clinical trials in psychiatric indications. Served as Project Lead for mechanistic first-in-human Phase 1 trial, including IND-enabling GLP studies, authorship of relevant non-clinical sections, and worked closely with Clinical Operations on clinical protocol and dose determination. Oversaw small molecule lead optimization efforts for novel target.

•Led small team of cell pharmacologists (5 reports, including PhD) for discovery and screening in psychiatric and cognitive indications in complex CNS systems, with a focus on repurposing compounds for rapid clinical application. Also led intellectual property efforts, including supervision of a patent agent and working with outside counsel and the USPTO. Developed key combination screening methods that enabled novel composition of matter patent claims. Worked with Business Development to prepare presentations and represent the company in interactions with potential partners. Served as alliance lead for corporate partnerships and academic collaborations.

•In addition to leading molecular biology, built from scratch and led cell biology capability and team (total of 7 reports) to provide target validation and drug discovery screening efforts for multiple early stage drug discovery projects. Served as Biology Project Leader for early-stage BRAF inhibitor program.

•Led a molecular biology team (4 reports) responsible for method development and production of complex human cDNA libraries critical for the company’s proprietary screening platform. Led cloning efforts to isolate all kinases in the human kinome for the proprietary screening technology and cell biology efforts.
