I provide training in computer aided design drafting (CAD Technician Program) for post-secondary students and established industrial clients (Industry Training & Development Program) through the Manitoba Institue of Trades & Technology on various term basis.

My routine varied day to day as I performed a wide variety of different tasks from one day to the next. Some of the tasks include but were not limited to: working with shop personnel to identify and revise specific design details of the specialized equipment the company manufactures through the use of corrective action plans, working with sales by providing equipment renderings and layouts, creating documentation in the form of work instructions for modifying existing equipment, inspecting incoming parts from suppliers, creating video based work instructions for the companies customers, helping to maintain the companies engineering documentation database as well as some logistics coordination work

The position involves both project management duties such as estimating, scheduling, site coordination as well as design and drafting duties. My daily routine consists of creating and editing production oriented manufacturing drawings, 3D models and associated documents for production and sales use.

My daily routine consists of being responsible for pipe handling, casing and drilling equipment on the drill floor as well as carrying out maintenance on the equipment. I also make and break rotary connections using rig tongs, I handle tubular goods, elevators and slips, and I operate semi-automated pipe-handling machines. Additionally, I participate in the daily cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance work on the drill rig, pump rig, rig tank and dog house.

I was contracted in April of 2016 to work with the product development manager, electrical department manager and production manager to produce 3d models and corresponding schematics of the electrical and hydraulic systems for the equipment Proall Inc. manufactures. I also produced installation manuals, warranty literature and other various technical documents such as product manuals for customer use during that time. In November 2016, I was hired on full time as an engineering design technician to work in the engineering department and produce, in addition to the previously stated technical documents, 3d models and drawings of various components Proall Inc. manufactures, such as weldments, assemblies and associated purchased & manufactured parts. The software used consisted of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Syspro ERP.

Position duties included checking precast drawings against contract documents, managing the flow of documentation through the drafting department and checking shop tickets against precast drawings. I was responsible for ongoing communication with sub trades, working closely with production personnel in the manufacturing facility and acting as a resource for site personnel. This was a supervisory position which required that I was capable of working in a fast paced environment, under pressure with tight deadlines and an attention to detail. The position also required me to be responsible for multiple projects simultaneously.

Oil & Gas Process Systems• Detailing, checking and approving pressure vessel, structural assembly, pipe line/spool models and all associated drawings and boms independently in accordance with customer specifications and schedules utilizing calculations and layout sketches.• Addressing project inconsistencies with project team to determine best solutions and responsibility of keeping the drafting project file in order with all back up documentations.• Communicating with the fabrication shops on fabrication issues.• Creating layouts for design engineering.• Participating in production & project meetings.• Inventor Council Representative & Vault Administrator.• Mentoring colleagues.

Oil & Gas Process Equipment My daily routine consisted of creating part/assembly models & drawings, bills of materials and line/valve lists to help achieve the form, fit & function required by the specialized equipment the company manufactures. Projects included: pump, meter & bulkhead skids, production testing units, line heaters, LPG & NGL bullets up to 130,000 uswg and 2, 3 & 4 phase vertical & horizontal separator packages. The software I used was Solidworks Professional 2011 & 2012, AutoCAD Mechanical 2010, CADWorx Plant Design Suite 2012 & Acorn Pipe Systems Inc.

Material (Pipe) Handling Equipment My daily routine consisted of creating part & assembly models to help achieve the form, fit and function required by the specialized equipment the company manufactures and part & assembly drawings for technical illustrations & manufacturing use. Projects included: Incoming Rack, Midrack, Hempdexer, Pipe Stop Letdown, Rack with Bumper Beam, Rack w/o Bumper Beam & all associated footprints & layouts. The software I used was Inventor 2011 & 2010 Professional & Autodesk Mechanical 2011 & 2010.

Oil Rig Equipment My daily routine consisted of documenting as-builts, creating part and assembly models to help achieve the form, fit and function required by the specialized equipment the company manufactures and part & assembly drawings and animations for technical illustrations and manufacturing use. I worked on twelve individual projects, which are as noted: Single Mudtanks (four), Dual Mudtanks (two), Scalping Tanks (two), Solids Cleaning Dryer Unit (one), Pumphouses (two), and Dual Pumphouses (one). The largest assembly I created contained over 7,500 parts. The software I used was Solidworks 2009 & 2010 Professional.

Oil & Gas Process Equipment My primary responsibilities consisted of creating part and assembly 3D models & drawings for technical illustrations and manufacturing use. I also created the companies CAD Departmental Standards Manual (50+ pages). The software I used was Microsoft Office 2008 & ACAD 2008.

Coiled Tubing Equipment My primary responsibilities included mechanical design & project management, specific to the Coiled Tubing Division, which encompassed managing all of the design aspects of projects from a preliminary quote stage through to project completion. My normal, daily routine consisted of the sourcing, modeling and analysis of components through new and existing vendors, creating part and assembly models to help achieve the form, fit and function required by the specialized equipment. I worked on eight individual projects, Pioneer & Century Coiled Tubing Units (four), Century CTU Support Trucks (three), EDM 750 MDR (Mobile Drilling Rig) (one). The software I used was Solidworks 2006 & 2007 Professional.

Pipeline Inspection Tools My primary responsibilities included mechanical design & project management, specific to the CaliPPer and IMU pipeline inspection tool product lines, which encompassed managing all of the design aspects of projects from a preliminary quote stage through to project completion. My normal, daily routine consisted of the sourcing, modeling and analysis of components through new and existing vendors, creating part and assembly models to help achieve the form, fit and function required by the specialized equipment the company produced, and part and assembly drawing creation for technical illustrations and manufacturing use. The software I used Inventor 8 & 9.

H2O Treatment & Process EquipmentATP Manufacturing Ltd. was the company I obtained a position with through my college work practicum. I started working there as a junior mechanical design draftsman. I worked on residential & municipal water treatment systems in a collaborative design and development role and I was responsible, in part, for creating and maintaining the company drawing database which included all associated bills of materials. After working at ATP Manufacturing Ltd. for three years I was promoted to the Research and Development division as an intermediate mechanical design draftsman wherein my responsibilities changed somewhat from primarily drafting to more hands on design work, which included but was not limited to custom valve design & testing and overall initial (as built) custom equipment designs for both residential and municipal applications. The software I used was ACAD 13 & 14.

Faroex Ltd. was started in 1981 by Ken Church in his garage on a 20-acre plot near Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada with $60,000 in seed money from the sale of his house and boat, loans from four investors, and ample use of his credit card. With input from his mentor and plastics guru the late Dave Martens as well as local hog farmers, Ken designed and prototyped a flooring system for hog farrowing comprised of a grid of pultruded beams supporting interlocking floor grates of injection molded, recycled glass-filled polypropylene. The innovative system was such a hit that within three months, he had relocated the operation to a facility in Gimli Manitoba's industrial park and commenced full production. All of the manufacturing equipment was custom designed by Ken and his team of engineers. I worked for my dad, Ken Church, in multiple roles which included but were not limited to injection molding equipment operator, pultrusion & extrusion equipment operator & fiber-optics strength member tester to name a few positions throughout elementary school (yes, that's correct-elementary school), junior high, high school and for a few years prior to attending college. Faroex Ltd. was owned and operated for 25 years by my father and at one point employed over 200 people. There were multiple fabrication facilities and office locations throughout Manitoba and Winnipeg.
