Currently, I am the CSO at Kartos Therapeutic. We are dedicated to the development of novel, targeted therapeutics that meaningfully improve the lives of patients with cancer. Kartos is a clinical stage bio pharmaceutical company with an investigational MDM2 inhibitor (KRT-232). Previously, I led Acerta's Biology/Resistance group focusing on the application of pharmacodynamic and biomarker assays to promising drug candidates. I've was part of Acerta from its founding in 2013 and established the laboratory capabilities to help progress acalabrutinib (a BTK inhibitor) from early (pre-IND) stage development through to clinical testing. This led to an FDA approval in Mantle Cell Lymphoma. After AstraZeneca's majority acquisition of Acerta in 2016, I maintained a leadership role in the organization. I focused my group to identify and characterize drug resistance mechanisms and contributed to other projects to inform drug development.Prior to joining Acerta, I was Director of Research at Nodality Inc., where I led the development of phosphoflow cytometry for the characterization of activated signaling networks in tumor tissue. My career began at Amgen where I worked for 16 years in the Hematology and Inflammation Research Therapeutic areas. I helped advance protein and small molecule drugs from the bench to the clinic. Experienced molecular / cell biologist with expertise in drug resistance mechanisms, biomarker development and pharmacodynamic assays. Specialties: Oncology and immunologyI have particular expertise in innovative drug profiling technologies, such as multiparametric phosphoflow cytometry and drug sensitivity assays, to assist drug development programs. This includes the characterization of activated signaling networks within complex tissues, such as whole blood, in healthy and disease states. My experience ranges from programs in early drug discovery, to preclinical animal studies and early phase clinical studies. I have also written sections of the FDA filing documents for acalabrutinib.
