CEO: ABEMIS LLC, Abemis.com.We focus on advanced Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Generated Design (GD) Meta/Hyper-structures, with applications and components for robotic 3D microscopy, aerospace, bioengineering, automotive, architecture, footwear, vibration control, impact absorbing structures, and more. Please visit https://Abemis.com for more meta-structure generation informationand https://Abemismicro.com for new, anti-vibration 3D microscopy systems. Our core technologies are:- Novel automated hyper-mesh meta-structures/generation (patented 2021).- 3D macro/micro microscopy and large-scale, antivibration fluorescence imaging Hscope PA53 and Panthera 3D motorized platforms, now partnered with Motic Scientific. At ABEMIS we have developed revolutionary Meta/Hyper-structures that achieve unprecedented ultra-lightweighting, *anti-vibration* and strength. We can now process highly complex multi-domain and composite/hybrid structures, with performance characteristics unlike anything you've ever seen. Contact us for a consultation/evaluation of your project needs. We also develop 3-D imaging, biomedical imaging (CT/MRI) processing solutions, device/fixture designs, computational analyses (e.g. FEA, viscoelasticity: QLV/FLV) and advanced *adaptive" field-based multi domain mesh generation for complex organic structures, ultra-light machine components, and GD driven topologies.Clients and partners include Univ. of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Marquette U., Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, Univ. of Akron, Texas A&M Univ., Drexel U., Philips Medical (Pittsburgh), and several others. We are members of the Additive Manufacturing Consortium of Ohio and have won start-up grants from GLIDE, and 3rd Frontier.Dr. Doehring was previously Assistant Professor, Drexel University, Staff Researcher at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Lerner Research Institute), and graduate of the Musculoskeletal Research Center (MSRC, U. Pittsburgh), and now CEO of ABEMIS llc.Contact us with any questions or inquiries: info@abemis.comFor a LIVE DEMO of our meta-structure and/or 3D microscopy systems: techdemo@abemis.comWe respond promptly.

CsoTensortek Llc May 2014 - Sep 2015Greater Philadelphia AreaTensortek has been acquired by ABEMIS LLC: The goal of ABEMIS (Advanced BioEngineering and Micro Imaging Systems) Robotic Microscopy Division is to provide *affordable* tools for automated microscopy, with fast imaging and advanced software (Smart Microscopy, Deep Learning, consulting on *difficult*, multi-domain Finite Element mesh generation problems for biological (tissue and fiber-level) multi-physics composite modeling. Most systems for automated microscopy cost >$100k (e.g. Nikon, Olympus, Leica, etc.). Our new automated 3D robotic microscopy system starts at <$10k. To achieve this price point we take advantage of new USB3.0 imaging and motor-control technologies that provide enhanced speed and imaging performance, along with in-house developed imaging software, custom GUI(s) and modern 3-D printing technology that keeps our short run manufacturing costs low -- and allows us to develop and provide custom specimen holders, and micro-testing systems.See [abemis.com] for more information, specs, and Gigabyte Gallery.

Adjunct ProfessorDrexel University Jan 2013 - Jan 2014 -
Assistant ProfessorDrexel University Biomedical Engineering Jun 2005 - Dec 2012PhiladelphiaGraduate/Undergraduate teaching and research primarily in biomechanics and imaging related topics/projects.Research included: Development of an automated scanning/polarized microscopy system (the "MezoScope"). Novel micro-testing systems for tensile-testing of small samples with non-uniform topologies. Instrumented implant design (e.g. the "Smart Patella"). NIH funded.Investigation of the clearly Non-Affine deformation behavior of connective tissues, including aortic valves and tendons/ligaments. Email me for more information.Virtual Reality training systems: the VeuSim project developed an immersive VR simulation of endoscopic procedures (funded by the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation).

Staff ScientistCleveland Clinic Sep 2002 - Sep 2005Developed new tools for 3-D reconstruction of medical images (e.g. SuperSlicer).Automatic conversion of volumetric MRI images to 3-D tetrahedral meshes suitable for Finite Element Analysis. This includes comprehensive analysis and resolving of 'slivers' (a major problem for any automated mesh generation system). Further work on Non-Affine deformations of soft tissues (ligaments/tendons). Imaging solutions were developed to automatically identify and quantify global/local collagen structure deformations using Radon transforms and FE interpolation. -
Post DoctoralCleveland Clinic Sep 2001 - Sep 2002Lerner Research InstitutePerformed research primarily on biomechanics and computational modeling of the Aortic Valve. Developed a novel 'Direct-Fit' global optimization method for fitting the Quasilinear Viscoelastic (QLV) model of Y.C. Fung to tensile-test viscoelastic relaxation data. Developed a new Fractional Calculus adaptation of the QLV model using a modified Mittag-Leffler function to achieve significantly improved 'fits' with reduced parameter requirements (with Prof. Alan Freed). Developed new Elliptically Polarized Light imaging techniques to visualize collagen fibers in fresh, unstained tissue samples.
