Mr. Todd Esse has spent his entire career in the energy industry . He has a broad knowledge and understanding of the energy industry, with specialization in natural gas exploration, production, distribution and trading.Prior to Co-founding HashWorks Industries, Mr. Esse was invloved with several successful midstream energy development startups, all under the umbrella of Southport Energy. Mr. Esse was a Co-founder and Partner of Sasco Energy Partners, LLC, an energy trading hedge fund based in Westport, CT.Before founding Sasco Energy Partners in 2008, he was one of the four Founding Managers of Sempra Energy Trading (SET). In April of 2008, Sempra Energy Trading was sold to The Royal Bank of Scotland in a joint venture transaction valuing SET at approximately $2.7 billion. Sempra had bought the trading unit of AIG (that became SET) in August of 1997 for approximately $290 million.During his time at Sempra Energy Trading, Mr. Esse served as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager focused on trading energy futures and derivatives; Senior Vice President of SET liquid natural gas (LNG) markets travelling globally to develop Sempra’s LNG business during which time he originated a 20-year LNG supply contract for the Costa Azul LNG facility as well as Sempra’s purchase of the Lake Charles LNG facility. He also served as the Managing Director of Sempra Energy Trading Europe and founded Sempra’s European business opening offices in Norway, Germany and Spain. While in Europe he founded two residential energy marketing companies in the United Kingdom and Germany.Mr. Esse was the Head of Natural Gas Trading for AIG Trading which was acquired by Sempra in August of 1997 and renamed Sempra Energy Trading.
