NASA Langley Research Center – Hampton, Virginia (April 2015 - Current): Environmental Specialist II, Energy Analyst. Providing energy and water conservation support to NASA Langley to ensure compliance with applicable laws, NASA policies, and Executive Orders, and the Center’s energy and water goals. Identification, development, and implementation of energy/water conservation projects and initiatives at the Center. Developing and maintaining energy/water metrics, documentation, reports, policy documents, presentations, and plans, including the Center Energy Conservation Performance Plan. Assisting with LaRC’s Energy Efficiency Team, including facilitating quarterly meetings, developing agendas/presentations, and recording meeting minutes. Conducting walk-through and desktop Energy Audits on an annual basis by NPR 8570.1. Implementing and managing the Center’s energy monitoring and reporting systems and tools. I have created virtual meters that allow for building-level interval energy monitoring that was not possible before and has allowed for substantial improvements in the quality and accuracy of meter data. My work on energy monitoring tools using the OSIsoft PI system has resulted in the capability for real-time energy monitoring for the Center. I have been invited to speak at several national conferences on the topic since my implementation and have also been invited by NASA to speak with additional Centers regarding the possibility of scaling the energy management system up to other Centers across the agency.

NASA Langley Research Center – Hampton, Virginia (November 2012 – April 2015): Environmental Specialist I, Water Program. Providing assistance in administration and maintaining compliance with water discharge permits and erosion and sediment control and stormwater management requirements. Assisting with the preparation and submission of permit regulatory correspondence, modifications and applications and required reports as necessary for permits. Determining construction site stormwater permitting applicability, reviewing and commenting on Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), site inspections for permit compliance, and record keeping for stormwater compliance. Performing routine inspection of regulated outfalls. NASA Langley became the first federal facility in Virginia to administer its own stormwater management program in 2014.NASA Langley Research Center – Hampton, Virginia (November 2012 – April 2015): Environmental Specialist I, Compliance Audits. Managing a multi-media environmental audit program for monitoring compliance with all environmental regulations including RCRA, CWA, CAA, and tracking findings to closure in accordance with Langley Management System Center Procedure (LMS-CP) 8530. Conducting compliance audits, inspections, and external audits for all Center projects including Construction of Facilities projects under separate task order.

Responsible for technical assistance to localities and watershed groups on nonpoint source pollution and the writing and review of NPS water quality studies and implementationplans (TMDLs) for the Albemarle, Chowan, and Coastal Watersheds office of the Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation in Suffolk, VA. Delivering NPS education andoutreach through presentations for watershed groups and localities. Team lead for locality engagement efforts for the Chesapeake Bay TMDL Virginia Watershed ImplementationPlan. Managing all grant-funded projects in our region including Water Quality Improvement Fund grants for NPS pollution reduction projects designed to result in measurable improvements in water quality.

Interpreting and delivering research on coastal resources management to a wide range of audiences from county, state, and federal staff to citizen boards, watershed organizations and the general public. Education delivered through a variety of media including newsletters, plant guide, white papers, guidance documents, invited presentations, as well as formal educational workshops.
