About Todd Holman

When you come from a tiny Midwestern town like I do, community becomes part of your bloodstream. You understand and internalize that organizations are only as strong as their people, and that true leadership is not a title but a service. I remain committed to the same philosophy of service and an unyielding belief in treating everyone equally. Too many organizations believe there’s a tension between the welfare of their employees and their bottom line. In my organizations, I believe employees ARE the bottom line. By valuing the employee first, creating a safe and welcoming culture, and listening to employees’ needs, I have repeatedly bolstered the bottom line, increased offerings, and expanded programs. Human Resources Director

Baraboo, Wi, Us

Lead Human Resources for all the "Craniacs" who are "Saving cranes and the places where cranes dance."

Jan 2017 - Apr 2023

Director Of Administration

Madison, Wi, Us

I guided the Human Resources, Facilities, Security, Safety, and Administrative teams at a non-profit with over 350 employees, including directly managing the HR department’s 14 employees and reporting directly to the President/CEO. Signature Successes:✔ CHANGE CATALYST: Goodwill’s worker’s compensation rating was 1.49 in 2011, meaning the organization was paying 49% more for insurance premiums than comparable organizations. I engineered a company-wide safety program, consulting with employees and managers to determine the most common safety risks and implementing processes and procedures to address them. In the process, we instilled a safety-first culture that ensured employees stayed physically and financially whole. As a result, the worker’s compensation rating fell to 0.97 by 2016, saving Goodwill $84,000 per year and dramatically diminishing job-related injuries. ✔ RISK MANAGEMENT: I developed clear, concise, and convenient booklets detailing site-specific emergency response procedures for each of Goodwill’s 7 different business units, enabling quick and easy access for site managers in the event of an evacuation. This emergency plan earned accolades during Goodwill’s accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). ✔ PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Based on extensive requirements-gathering with key stakeholders, I revamped Goodwill’s system for reporting facility concerns to ensure accurate tracking of requests from initiation to completion. This enabled site managers to track delays, anticipate and prepare for disruption of business, and generate more accurate estimates of project timelines. ✔ DEDICATION TO DIVERSITY: I created a Cultural Competency Plan to promote an inclusive culture that would make all employees feel welcome. Not only did the program pass CARF accreditation, but the CARF accreditor asked to adopt the plan at his own organization.

Jul 2007 - Jul 2016

Regional Director Of Human Resources

5Th Floor, Boston, Us

I executed HR initiatives, policies, and procedures for the 7-state Central Division (WI, NE, TX, OK, LA, MO, and KS) of the 2,200-employee organization, which offers a range of programs and services for people with developmental disabilities. Signature Successes:✔ ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: I directed the expansion of The MENTOR Network into Nebraska and Missouri, including recruiting, hiring, and training executive-level managers in each state. To account for different business models between states, I researched and interpreted local labor laws and ensured the managers we hired had backgrounds that matched each state’s needs. ✔ NEGOTIATION: I represented management during our initial negotiation with 13 employees who voted to form a union, traveling to Kenosha, WI twice per month over 18 months to discuss terms with the Teamsters Union.

Sep 2000 - Jul 2007

Executive Director

I developed and managed new program offerings, budget, and donor relationships. I also directed marketing, staffing, and recruitment, serving as the face of the organization in the local community. Signature Successes:✔ STRATEGIC PLANNING: When I stepped in, the camp was on the verge of closing due to its $85,000 in debt. I worked with creditors to extend payment deadlines, rebuilt our donor base through fundraisers and outreach to former donors, cut non-essential expenditures, expanded programs, and engaged the community in our mission. As a result, we erased all debt within a year without cutting staff and ushered in 8 straight years of financial gains.
