Many fleets have started with a similar idea, but few have the foresight to build a business model. Then there are drivers like Todd Kaiser. Todd's interest in trucks started out when he was very young, back when truck driver's were considered "Knights of the Hwy". He grew up in a family where his father supported them by driving truck for a living. This laid the groundwork for what Todd wanted to become. In the years that followed he found himself following in his father's footsteps.Todd was soon running the west coast with his friend and a new 359 Peterbilt. He then drove dump trucks locally, and at 21 years old, started hauling cars for JATCO. During that time there was a down turn in the amount of cars that were selling and it was during this stage of his career that he was offered a job that would give him the opportunity to hone in on his business skills. He took this offer and went to work managing a large fleet of vehicles that were responsible for the delivery of roofing materials to contractors for the largest roofing wholesaler in the country. He learned quickly as to what it took to buy and sell equipment right and how to maintain a fleet of what was at that time 3200 pieces. During this time he started a real estate rental venture with his wife and used equity from the business venture to start Kaiser Transport, Inc in April 1996.Todd had a vision of a nationwide LTL step-deck trucking company that could provide the transportation needs of the machine tool and equipment shippers. Todd dreamed of building a company on the principles that he was raised with; hard work, dedication, fairness, honesty, and trust. This foundation has been intertwined into the moral fiber of Kaiser, which has flourished and grew into a high-end freight hauler with an impeccable image across the country.
