-Supervise and direct work of public safety dispatchers on an assigned shift-Represent the department in relations with professional associations, other agencies, and organizations-Provide instructions to subordinates and answer questions. Coordinate schedules and completion of workunit projects. Evaluate work techniques and methods or conformance to established work standards-Respond to inquires from the public, other departmental or city employees. Provide explanation of work unit technical processes and functions requiring an understanding of policies and procedures-Conduct training or supervise such activity. Maintain training manual. Assist in hiring process; interview,schedule, and track progress of new hires through the training program

-Provide public safety dispatch services for emergency and non-emergency purposes for various agencies such as DouglasCounty Sheriff’s Office, East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts, Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District, Washoe Tribal Police,and Alpine County’s Sheriff, Fire and Medical services-Receive, screen, and take appropriate action on all emergency service calls to include 911 calls from the public requestinglaw enforcement, fire, EMS, and search and rescue-Determine nature and location of emergency, determine priority, dispatch Determine nature and location of emergency, determine priority, dispatch-Receive and relay information regarding incidents and other activities to appropriate agencies and staff

-Operate an EMS Computer-Aided Dispatch console consisting of a computer-based telephone system and radio console.-Answer all incoming calls evaluate to determine the nature and urgency of the call.-Dispatch appropriate Fire/EMS units.-Keep track of the status and location of all EMS personnel and vehicles.-Transmits messages and information to Fire/EMS units responding to calls.-Provide emergency medical self-help to citizens while EMS units are enroute.-Establishes "patch" communications between the field emergency personnel and appropriate facility.

-Work on-call 24 hour shifts overseeing all operations including supervision of EMT's, Dispatcher's, and RN's-Responsible for covering shifts in emergency situations including ambulance operation and dispatching-Responsible for continued education and counseling of EMT's and Dispatcher's-Operation of an emergency vehicle used to respond to emergencies including mass casualty incidents-Responsible for running reports to assist with planning for staffing levels and staging locations-Create and fill schedules, handle all time-off request including sick time, and submit payroll-Train and oversee ambulance operations as well as identify training and improvement needs-Ensure employees are in compliance with Shoreline Ambulance, Orange County EMS, and State policies, procedures, and protocols-Assist in the development and implementations of guidelines, policies and procedures for training, field practice and medical standards-Assist in quality assurance relating to patient care reports -Inventory BLS level supplies to plan and maintain all vehicles and equipment are stocked and up to date as well as running supplies to the appropriate location as needed-Issue memos for upcoming events or training classes-Issue and file paperwork for incident reporting-Work independently and create own schedule in order to fulfill needs for each shift and department *Other titles held: E.M.T. / F.T.O. / Field Supervisor / F.T.O. -Respond, assess, and transport emergency and non-emergency calls calmly, efficiently, and promptly.-Rescue and extricate victims of accidents, sudden illness or entrapment using proper medical techniques.-Treat patients and provide basic life support on scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting, in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. -Communicate with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center.
