I work as a Transportation Planner for the Richmond District Virginia Department of Transportation. I am the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the area and I handle most of the traffic forecasting/GIS related assignments. We design reclamation water systems for clients to help reduce their footprint on the environment and to save them money on their water bill. In short, we reclaim their wastewater/storm water and use it to supply their non-potable water demands. I work within the ArcGIS program, Microsoft Excel, and SketchUp on a frequent basis. I research each client's water usage and demand in addition to the local zoning regulations/ordinances for water treatment facilities. We also study the local climate to see how much precipitation could be collected for rooftop rain capture and storm water management systems.

Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission (Mppdc)

I work as the Rural Transportation Planner as a consultant with The Berkley Group at the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission (MPPDC). I offer assistance to the PDC and localities in which the PDC serves for any project related to transportation as well as other regional projects. The Middle Peninsula is located on the eastern shore of Virginia and is comprised of the following six counties: Essex County, Middlesex County, Mathews County, King William County, King & Queen County, and Gloucester County. I host monthly meetings with local planners in the region and attend other local government meetings regularly with County Administrators, Board of Supervisors, and other key personnel in the Middle Peninsula region. I write grant applications to VDOT and other government agencies to assist localities that are interested in pursuing projects related to improving transportation and are in need of federal/state funding.

I have collected data on bus stops in relation to ADA compliance, I analyzed bus stops and routes for safety/efficiency reasons, and I have conducted surveys on passengers to gather the viewpoints of those who use our service on a daily basis in order to better our system.
