Unlike traditional technical support roles, this job required understanding the software, the customer's business practices, distribution industry norms, and deep technical knowledge of the underlying databases used by our software. It was by no means a traditional turn-and-burn support shop. There were no scripts and no standard solutions. Every case was a unique puzzle. While I was in this role, I took on the technical writing duties, beginning with a rewrite of all our manuals.

When not doing my other two jobs, I took on special projects for the company. During that time, I created and managed the company's Net Promoter Score (NPS) program and various tools used by the Marketing, Technical Support, and Customer Service teams.

This was my own consulting company. I ran it for a few years during the economic downturnas an umbrella for taking on freelance work. My clients were a mix of startups and smallcompanies who either had one-ff projects or didn't want to commit to having a full-timewriter. Mostly I wrote product manuals, software user guides, and performed copy edits ontechnical white papers and marketing materials.

In this job I wrote how-to guides and for a generally non-technical audience who needed tolearn Pearl scripting in order to use our software. To facilitate this, I created a mix of writtenproduct documentation, video demos, and live training. I also wrote our monthly customernewsletter.
