At the heart of everything I do is some sort of writing, my first love that has outlasted all my other creative pursuits (though I still enjoy drawing and sketching a bit).I am usually at my happiest at work when I have a writing assignment I can throw myself into, but I take pride in being an editor, pulling together all the working parts of a project and seeing it through to the finish. Being an editor seems a natural progression in a career in journalism and publishing and it's a position commensurate with my time in the game.I think it's entirely possible to enjoy one's job, especially if there is camaraderie in the workplace. That's always been important to me and I have been at my least happiest, professionally, when that has not existed. I am pleased to be among sharp, intelligent, outgoing, creative people where I work now.At the same time I believe in professionalism. There is a proper way to act. Anyone who knows me for example, knows I am deadly serious about not cheering in the pressbox.Highlights for me have been covering professional sports and famous athletes, especially Major League Baseball spring training, and interviewing and writing about past and present national and state political office holders and also pulling in the occasional award in state and regional journalism contests.Away from the job, when not grappling with the headaches of being a homeowner, I enjoy exercise, cooking, reading (I am a hopeless accumulator of books), my pets, working in my yard, politics, history, current events, outings with friends and I am crazy about movies and TV and all that entails. In another life I could have worked in film or been a film critic.I am proud of my three kids, all mostly grown. Though having a whole house to myself still is a bit of a shock sometimes.
