Duties and achievements in this role include:*Management of Council’s 40+ corporate services and their back-end infrastructure across a range of operating systems; all Microsoft OSs up to Server 2008 R2 and basic working knowledge of Linux. Services managed include; Microsoft Exchange 2003, SQL, Sybase Databases, HP TRIM, Symantec Enterprise Vault, SharePoint, AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS 6 and IIS 7, Certificate Authority, WSUS, Sophos Endpoint Protection, Sophos Web and Internet filtering appliances and Veeam Backup & Replication*Provide technical support and guidance to my colleagues to assist them to meet SLA requirements*Designed, documented and implemented an in-house disaster recovery solution for the entire Council server fleet with an RTO of less than 5 hours*Designed, documented, implemented and managed a development environment that includes a full point-in-time replica of all Council servers. Currently in the process of designing separate trunked VLANs to the development and disaster recovery environments and advertising them via MVRP/GVRP to allow for Internet access and UAT of physical devices, such as scanners, in any of the these environments from any location*Perform scheduled maintenance of all servers, ESXi hosts, network equipment and also implementing changes approved by the Change Management Board*Installation and configuration of VMware ESX/ESXi hosts for production, disaster recovery and development environments*Management of Council’s backup regime using HP Data *Protector backup software to the HP MSL2024 series tape library *Installation and management of Council’s HP EVA 4400 and HP P4500 Left-Hand SANs using a combination of manual methods and scripts to automate VMware and HP best practise documents across all environments*Large-scale rollouts of many core and non-core Council applications such as Civica’s Authority, HP TRIM and custom-built Daylight Savings Time patches

Duties and achievements in this role include:*Co-creation and ongoing management of Council’s current External, Remote and Pooled Access Services, using Citrix technologies. This includes the migration of many applications with localised data into the Citrix-based *Pooled Application Service for ease of management and backups*Administration and maintenance of various networking equipment including HP ProCurve switching, a Cisco PIX 515e firewall, Juniper switching and various Billion routers used across the Council network*Performing basic penetration test security assessments of Council and relaying security vulnerabilities to my supervisor*Scheduling and implementation of approved upgrades to core and specialised applications which commonly require upgrades to SQL databases and servers*Creation and ongoing management of an IT Knowledge Base within Council’s Microsoft SharePoint site, including all procedural and technical documentation, known issues logs, ICT services portfolio, outage logs and implementation of a simple call logging system for non-customer facing tasks*Management of Council’s Avaya PABX systems*Designed and implemented a script to deploy appropriate GIS layers to clients during the migration to GIS.NET

Duties and achievements in this role include:*Providing technical support for approximately 500 users and ensuring customer requests are prioritised to ensure satisfactory levels of support*Assisting in various projects including the TRIM 5 => TRIM 6 upgrade, coordinating two computer rollouts and took part in an MPLS installation*Creation, periodic revision and quality control of ICT documentation*Management of Active Directory and group policies to facilitate appropriate access control to, and security of, Council’s network*Repairing, configuring and installing of software and services on Windows and Linux servers and Windows desktops when necessary*Designed, wrote and implemented an automated hardware auditing system using VBS and VBA to provide critical reports to my supervisor for large-scale computer rollouts and information gathering. It was customised to assist in many reporting situations; such as to provide my coordinator with budgeting data and interrogating Active Directory for further information as required*Creation and ongoing management of the Standard Operating Environment SharePoint site that included information on file extensions, licensing information, approved version numbers, install scripts and their DML location and other information for 250+ applications*Creation and ongoing management of the standard operating environment on both Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems*Creation and ongoing management of Council’s ICT Assets Register*Created and customised many MSIs to more easily deploy applications
