BCRA Nexus has transitioned to Nexus bec, Inc. (dba NEXUS) - an independent, third-party building envelope consulting, testing and forensics firm. With FAA-certified sUAS (drone) pilots and drone-mounted infrared (IR) thermographic imaging capabilities, we continue to expand the services available to our clients in the areas of conditions assessments and investigations.As a Principal and Building Science Specialist, my role is to provide design and technical leadership on projects specializing in building envelope design/consulting for Nexus' private, public and Federal clients with services in three primary areas of focus:- Envelope Consulting: Independent technical reviews (ITR), as well as design and detailing of the exterior envelope, and consulting on building envelope systems and exterior cladding design.- Building Forensics Investigations: Perform building inspections and investigations to identify sources of real and potential building failures including moisture intrusion, cladding failures and Facilities Conditions Assessments to determine effective useful life of materials/buildings. Investigations utilize invasive and non-invasive techniques specializing in the use of infrared thermography (IR) imaging, resistograph testing for heavy-timber structural members, and water intrusion investigations.- Envelope Performance Testing: Perform construction performance verification testing such as water penetration testing (water spray-rack testing) of window and wall assemblies, air barrier envelope testing, mock-up performance testing and construction site inspections.Based in the Pacific Northwest, we perform these services for clients throughout the Unites States and Puerto Rico.
