After leading Camp Ramah in the Poconos for 13 years, I was honored to be asked to build a pipeline for highly skilled young adults to explore careers in service to the Jewish community from the ground up. Ten years in, The Nachshon Project fellowship has ensured that +75% of our 300 participants entered leadership positions at synagogues, Jewish agencies, educational institutions, camps and start ups–positively impacting thousands of Jewish lives.We achieve this in two stages. In the first stage, I mentor and guide ~40 undergraduates each year to help them match their skills and interests to professional possibilities. In addition, I oversee six months of Hebrew language instruction, Jewish text study, engagement with modern Israel, and personal identity exploration to prepare them for their future careers. I am an expert at empowering young leaders to set goals, create work plans to achieve such goals, and measure effectiveness.In the second stage, we help fund the graduate studies of these young adults while also training them in entrepreneurship, data-driven decision making, and emotional intelligence so they can excel in their chosen fields. As the leader of this initiative, I collaborate with the deans of Jewish graduate schools and other institutions to coordinate and enhance the training of these future leaders. I constantly engage in research and analysis to keep our fellowship and related programs as effective as possible.
