Improvements were sustained by establishing a strategy for contract/direct maintenance crew mix, improving the planning and scheduling processes, creation of an Operator Driven Reliability system, implementation of craft/operator level root cause analysis, and improvement of work order gatekeeping to reduce interrupt work. Other tools used included Reliability Centered Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques. Improved wrench time from 25% to 45% over 2 years. Minimized remnant costs and maintained critical capabilities through restructuring the maintenance department as a result of divestiture of part of the facility.
