I am a senior litigator in Gowling WLG Canada's Ottawa office and am rated in Best Lawyers in Canada 2015 (as well as the 2014 and 2013 editions) for my work in corporate and commercial litigation.My dispute resolution practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, professional liability and risk management. With over 20 years of experience, I have handled complex disputes for individuals, private and public companies, as well as government and other public agencies. My representation promotes frequent communication, early case assessment, project management, e-discovery best practices, effective budgeting and vigorous representation.I have been lead counsel in litigation and arbitration matters in the banking, construction, manufacturing, real estate, technology and transportation sectors. My experience includes complex contractual disputes, economic torts, distribution agreements, breach of confidence, trade libel, options to purchase, product liability and the operation of International Financial Reporting Standards accounting rules. In the professional liability area, I lead a team dedicated to the representation of regulated health professionals in a variety of disciplines. This involves both civil and disciplinary proceedings. In addition to representing health professionals, I also represent engineers, financial advisors and technology professionals.My experience includes providing crisis management advice and support to clients, which has included interim and interlocutory relief through the Courts including Anton Piller and Mareva injunctions. I am a member of Gowling WLG Canada's Board of Trustees, the Leader of the Commercial Litigation Group and am on the firm’s Crisis Management Group. Previously, I served as the Leader of Gowlings’ Commercial Litigation National Practice Group and as Leader of the firm’s U.S. Initiative.
