Nuclear Power Training Unit

I train junior sailors on mechanical, electrical, chemical, and nuclear theory. I train junior mechanics how to operate and maintain mechanical equipment in the US Navy's nuclear reactor propulsion plant. I mentor sailors to be able to adapt to the high tempo and high stress lifestyle that the Naval Nuclear Power Program requires of its operators.

Effectively managed a division of sailors in training, qualifications, and preventive and corrective maintenance. I assumed leadership during the second half of a maintenance availability that we completed one week early. I then lead my division through an examination process to ensure the reactor plant and the ship would be operated safely at sea.

Control, operate, and maintain machinery to generate electricity and propulsion. This includes monitoring and troubleshooting plant conditions, log trend analysis, and directing or performing technical procedures and casualty response.

Directly supervised and coordinated the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment in a nuclear power plant. Utilized quality assurance principles to ensure first time success with a focus on safety that resulted in zero injuries during the performance of the work and subsequent retests and equipment operations.
