Responsible for sustaining engineering of existing products and maintenance of existing grants and submission of new grants for development funding. Responsible for the design and development of next generation Neuromonics treatment products. This development includes system architecture and design as well as management of Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical, Software, and Test Engineers. Next generation product is now completed and shipping. Converted all logic to run on iOS and Android.

Sonic Innovations is the fastest growing hearing aid company and the second fastest growing medical device company with worldwide sales exceeding $100M after 5 years of product sales. Sonic was a venture-funded startup company that went public in 2001. I was the first Engineer hired in the Software area and tasked with providing technical direction and building the software and systems teams. I hired the key employees and architected a system that includes both software and hardware components. The system designed includes engineering tools, electrical and acoustic manufacturing measurement and data storage systems, custom hardware interfaces, and end user applications for those that fit the hearing aid to the patient.

Sonic Solutions specializes in high-end audio and was branching into DVD authoring. I worked at Sonic Solutions along with the original CEO of Sonic Innovations then followed him to Sonic Innovations a few months after he left Sonic Solutions. As Technical Lead at Sonic Solutions, I was responsible for the development of the user interface component of a DVD mastering project and worked closely with the hardware and low-level software engineers in order to create a full-featured UI. I now have a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of MPEG-2 video and audio compression and came up to speed in this technology in a very short amount of time. In addition to my DVD project, I also designed and managed the implementation of radio broadcast products for Sonic Solutions. For this product I acted as architect and designer and hired an engineer to implement the software. Program requirements were successfully managed in a multi-state environment using extensive telecommuting.

Engineering Manager : Application Specific AccelerationSenior Software Engineer, Team Technical Lead and Software DeveloperRadius Inc. created Macintosh add-on products such as monitors and graphics accelerators. Rapidly promoted to manage and create specialized vertical market acceleration products. The most successful acceleration product was PhotoEngine/ColorEngine. This is an award winning Adobe Photoshop hardware accelerator used to accelerate up to 50X many of the standard Photoshop filters. Other products included rendering engine acceleration and a product designed to perform video effects on compressed data streams.

Digital Technology International develops desktop publishing systems primarily for newspapers used worldwide. I developed a large-scale WYSIWYG application using complex graphics and line breaking algorithms. Improved efficiency by creating server based pagination/printing products using Postscript and other printing technologies. Developed industry first implementation of colored graphics and text including automatic traps and spreads in color separations. Designed and deployed a hardware security dongle that ran on the Apple Desktop Bus.
