Todd Kohli is a Principal at SmithGroup, leading the San Francisco office in their landscape architecture, urban design, and campus planning practices. Todd has been integral to the growth of the practices, securing several large, public, open-space projects, including: (1) the City of Sunnyvale Civic Center Modernization Plan, with Phase 1 of that Plan under construction and opening in 2023, (2) the City of South San Francisco Community Civic Campus Plan, currently under construction and opening in 2023; and numerous other projects from healthcare to university projects. With these projects and multiple pursuits underway, Todd is excited to continue to grow these practices within SmithGroup. As a dynamic team leader, he seeks to build a studio of diverse and versatile thinkers, landscape architects, and detail-oriented designers who want to design projects that leave a measurable mark on the built environment. He focuses on creating democratic open spaces that activate outdoor areas and thrive on the healthy benefits of nature. He integrates the ULI Building Healthy Places guidelines into all of his projects and weaves the practice of landscape architecture into the multidisciplinary design process, fusing natural systems, art, signage, lighting, and other forward-thinking technology to aid in community education and acknowledgement of the importance of landscape, open space, sustainability, and resiliency.
