I have focused my life's work to the service of others. I began my professional career as a patrol officer where I used my position to help others throughout the community. I was a community police officer among many other specialized positions. I progressed through the ranks with the consistent goal of service to others. I accomplished the rank of police captain where I was responsible for one of Charlotte’s largest police divisions which encompassed more than 60 square miles and deployed more than 100 police personnel. My focus was always my employees and the community we served. In addition to my routine duties, I commanded the department’s SWAT Negotiations Unit. In this assignment, I lead a team of negotiators on response to critical incidents involving hostages and suicidal persons. I successfully completed the FBI’s Hostage and Crisis Negotiations Certification. All these accomplishments were anchored in my dedication to serve others. I continue to look for opportunities to serve others.
