Music In Common is a non-profit organization that empowers youth against hate through collaborative songwriting, multimedia and performance. Our programs bring together teens and young adults from diverse backgrounds to discover and celebrate their common ground. Since 2005, Music In Common has directly served thousands of people in more than 300 communities across the globe and across religious, ethnic, cultural, and racial sectors. In any community, our programs can transform apprehension into trust, fear into acceptance, powerlessness into action. Working together face to face, participants expand understanding, build confidence, strengthen community, wage peace and - yes - change the world.The mission of Music In Common is to strengthen, empower, and connect communities through the universal language of music. Music In Common was founded in 2005 by singer-songwriter and producer Todd Mack in response to the murder of his friend and band mate, Daniel Pearl, the slain Wall St. Journal reporter abducted and killed in Pakistan in 2002.

Todd Mack has built a 30-year career as a musician, songwriter, and producer based upon his unwavering belief in the power of music to change the world. A diehard Do-It-Yourselfer, Mack has often taken the road less traveled. He has self-released 7 albums of his music, produced dozens of albums by other indie artists, and has toured extenstively throughout the United States, Far East, and Middle East, often finding himself in some unlikely places. He performs solo and with his band at concert halls, colleges, festivals, clubs, coffeehouses, and house concerts, and has earned a reputation as an engaging and provocative performer, weaving stories of his travels and experiences between songs and breaking down the conventional barriers between artist and audience by inviting them to join him on stage.In 2005, Todd organized a backyard jam in honor of his friend and bandmate, Daniel Pearl, the Wall St. Journal reporter abucted and murdered in Pakistan by extremists shortly after 911. Fueled by a resonating belief in the power of music to connect people, that backyard jam has grown into an internationally touring non-profit organization that empowers youth against hate through collaborative songwriting, multimedia, and performance. To date, Music In Common has toured to 300 communities across the globe to operates multiple programs, directly working with thousands of people. Todd serves as its executive director.A published writer, Mack has written two children's books for Scholastic Press and writes a blog called MAD (Making A Difference) with Music. From 2002 - 2012, he produced and hosted the nationally syndicated "Off the Beat-n-Track Radio Show" and owned & operated the Off the Beat-n-Track recording studio in western Massachusetts. Todd speaks locally, nationally, and internationally on a wide range of topics related to music and its power to create social change. He is based in Atlanta.
