The center and program are the world’s largest university programs focused on social impact. Each year over 10,000 students participate with the center in some way. Of those, 3,000 participate in semester long social impact classes, internships, competitions, and research.The overarching goal of the Ballard Center and the Peery Program is to help students learn how to solve social problems. Our secret sauce? A great team of ten non-students and 100 students who run the center. Though transitory, our student team keeps the center innovative and vibrant. These students are not just student-staff. They oversee most of our 30+ programs.As a professor-of-practice I taught courses in social impact in the Business Management and MBA programs. My focus was on using evidence-based impact to support highly effective social efforts, programs, and organizations. -
