I'm a systems and software engineer with over 20 years of experience in the field of aerospace maintenance training and simulation. I have worked on major programs such as the U.S. Navy F/A-18C, the U.S. Navy F/A-18E, the U.S. Air Force C-17 and the Finnish Air Force F-18C programs. During my career, I've predominately engineered virtual aircraft maintenance training devices. My most notable contribution to the field is the design of an inter-connect model, the result of which was a marked increase in simulation fidelity, and a significant reduction in development time by enforcing a pure component-based simulation design. I've also developed several tools to help manage the systems engineering aspect of the projects I've been on. The most significant of these tools was a website which, through a relational database, tied together requirements analysis, team member work efforts, data collection artifacts, run-time initialization data, and test requirements and documentation. This tool allowed all team members to collaboratively and efficiently work through each phase of each project and drastically reduced the systems engineering effort required.As my formal education and military background is all related to aviation and aerospace systems, I've been able to effectively serve as an in-house subject matter expert on the aerospace systems being modeled by a predominantly software engineering group. This has resulted in decreased data collection efforts, and fewer discrepancies at sell-off.I have a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University, and an A.A.S. in Aviation Maintenance from Indian Hills Community College.
