Todd McIntyre is Managing Partner of Spike Ventures, the Stanford affinity fund of Alumni Ventures, the nation's largest venture firm for individual investors. He has more than 20 years of experience as a venture capital investor, entrepreneur and senior technology operating executive, as well as deep knowledge of intellectual property and IP licensing. He has worked across capital structures ranging from seed stage investments to public offerings covering many sectors, including consumer media and web, optoelectronics, telecoms, cleantech and healthcare. Prior to Spike, Todd was a Founder and Managing Partner at Grey Sky Venture Partners, a life sciences and digital health fund that pioneered a venture finance model combining early-stage capital with fund-owned intellectual property. The fund attracted backing from one of the top private investors in the world.Before becoming a full-time venture investor, he was a senior business leader at the Invention Science Fund, a technology incubator where he was responsible for leading efforts to build and spin out new deeptech businesses. He played a key role in the formation and funding of TerraPower, Kymeta Corporation, Evolv Technology, Echodyne Corporation and Pivotal Commware.He was also a senior executive at Microvision, a leading developer of scanned-beam display and imaging systems, where he led corporate development as the company progressed from bench-stage to product introduction. During his tenure there, he also served as a founder and executive responsible for the spinout of Lumera Corporation, a developer of optical communications and biomedical analysis devices based on proprietary nanomaterials. He served in a leadership capacity as both businesses grew to become successful publicly listed companies.Additionally, he has experience in print media, having contributed to the startup of several successful publishing businesses.
