Promoted to position managing IT at a SaaS provider in Chicago, IL; in charge of a staff, including internal help desk and systems engineers, who are responsible for internal back office support as well as the multimillion dollar enterprise-class N+1 datacenter of a collaborative, video-focused online events platform. Daily duties beyond team management include: participating in customer-facing sales engineering calls to discuss custom solutions to bandwidth constraints for delivery of live “town hall” video streams to large enterprise corporate networks and then subsequently managing the projects to implement these solutions; responding to security and infrastructure RFI/RFP requests from enterprise customers; leading regular meetings with Development team to ensure infrastructure supports the needs of product roadmap; and training all client staff regularly on security and other IT best practices.

Promoted to position managing IT for a municipal government client in Chicago Suburbs. Effectively replaced a staff of three as the only full time resource on site, supplemented with temporary support staff from Prescient as needed on projects that I managed. Conducted overhaul of entire network and all IT processes at client, from network backbone and server infrastructure to end user PCs. Fostered a renewed sense of collaboration with IT on technological projects where individual departments once felt they were on their own. Account managers at Prescient received consistent unsolicited praise and commendations from client for my exemplary performance.

Lead technical resource in charge of IT infrastructure for the corporate office of a multibillion dollar organization in the Chicago Loop.Designed, implemented, and maintained network and server infrastructure with emphasis on high availability, fault tolerance, and recoverability. Worked with business units to centralize IT infrastructure and improve organizational efficiencies.Planned and managed regular maintenance intervals for software and firmware updates, infrastructure upgrades, and network configuration changes. Participated in monthly IT committee meetings with department representatives within the client’s organization. Designed, implemented, tested, and trained rest of IT staff on backup and disaster recovery solutions. Assisted team with help desk duties to help ensure high level of client satisfaction for the end user experience, including acting as escalation point for more challenging troubleshooting. Responsible for planning, configuring, and supporting desktop and server environments for approximately 165 end users spread throughout various offices and temporary work sites.Managed many successful projects such as: migrating the messaging and collaboration system from Exchange 5.5 to 2000 and later to 2003; planning and executing the technology portion of an entire office move; selecting and implementing a Storage Area Network solution for clustered file servers; provisioning temporary construction offices for Internet and secure VPN access in the pre-mobile broadband era; and leading regular end user “Lunch and Learn” technology training sessions.Maintained backups, system documentation, and annual service and support contracts.Worked directly with upper management to create IT budgets, policies, and procedures.
