I am currently involved in interfacing different systems and building applications to supplement internal custom process requirements. Interfacing systems mainly consists of working with APIs to interface siloed systems to share information and create automation. Web reporting consists of consolidating this information into more dynamic reports for operations. Where BI applications tend to focus on long term analysis, these provide quick and relevant data to the current process or operation, especially on more mobile devices. Web application building could involve a process where there is no great market solution, or a large scale application is not required. A quick and easy processes built through web interfaces help to bridge the gap and allow data collection for display or analysis. Other items include more generic process improvements such as creating QR based scanning solutions for laser and inkjet printers to reduce manual entry and errors.

This position involved being part of small and large scale projects involving process and workflow improvements. This can be as small as an individual project to interface the ERP and MES system for automating product additions, to larger scale projects such as improving machine output or capabilities, to implementing new customer product runs. Designing and building specific product-based instructions for shop floor operation and tying it with possible automation consisted of most of the activities. Other responsibilities involved building reports and managing systems such as Tableau, QAD RedZone, Kepware, and OSI Historian with VantagePoint.

Administration involved application and web design, report building, system and database design, system integration, data mining, process improvements, server and client builds. Maintenance of electrical equipment, troubleshooting, repairs, PLC controls, CMMS design and implementation, and other relevant maintenance related to IT Technologies interfacing production equipment within the press controls and Production Support department.

A smaller starter facility, originally titled GL Coating, a few years off the ground, was purchased by AFG to provide energy efficient coatings to industrial glass substrates. Duties included local IT Adminstrator, Water Management Administrator, and Electrical Maintenance Technician.
