Many clients wait until they need to either file a lawsuit or have been served with a complaint before contacting a lawyer, but there are often proactive steps we can take to reduce exposure to lawsuits before they happen, so do not wait to contact me. I never suggest litigation simply because that is my specialty - I only recommend it when it is unavoidable, or when it is the most promising option for success.All that said, sometimes litigation is the best option and you need an experienced trial and appellate litigator. That's me. I have represented clients in state court, federal court, and in front of administrative agencies. Some of my areas of practice include condominium association law, real estate law, commercial litigation, insurance litigation, automotive, landlord tenant, products liability, securities litigation, SEC civil enforcement litigation, grand jury investigations, as well as corporate crime and white collar crime. Prior to joining Makower Abbate, I worked for The Meisner Law Group, specializing in community association / condominium law. Before that I was a litigation associate at Clark Hill PLC in Detroit, MI. During law school, I had the opportunity to serve as an extern law clerk for two federal judges, first with the Honorable Judge Avern Cohn of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and later with the Honorable Judge David W. McKeague of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.I graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where I was a Dean King Scholar. I was an Associate Editor of the Michigan State Law Review, and received the Jurisprudence Award for Research, Writing, and Advocacy. Before law school, I received my Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy from Michigan State University.
