About Tol Foster

Throughout my career at places like UIC-Chicago, Johns Hopkins University, The University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), The University of Wisconsin (Madison), Marquette University, and TulsaCommunity College, my focus has been on mentorship (undergraduate advising and gradstudent recruiting/retention), outreach (community and intra-institutional collaboration),capacity-building (fund-raising and grant-writing), program creation and support(reshaping majors and minors, shepherding new courses through university approvalprotocols, hiring faculty), and fostering community within the university setting andbeyond at the Director level. My motivation is in helping students achieve their goals, and helping the institutionserve the needs of students and the community more broadly. I have pursued this throughteaching, advocacy, administration, grant-work, and community involvement.
