Being an ecologist is trying to understand how species interact with each other inside a more or less defined environment. In this complexity, ecology is a global science that will rally many different expertises as a response to a specific need or situation: naturalists, biologists, physiologists, sociologists, ethologists, mathematicians, chemists, and many more.Most of the ecologists work for research institutions or directly in wildlife conservation areas. Their work is vital to maintaining populations and their interactions at a functional level. Some of them are also working for NGOs on raising general public's awareness on biodiversity issues.On the other hand, being an urban ecologist is defining the environment in which we are studying biodiversity as the urban realm. In which, urban dwellers and human activities are, one way or another, major stakeholders. In that matter, many urban ecologists are familiar with business issues and they build an important link between scientists, public bodies, NGOs and large companies. In my particular case, I can be proud of being familiar with real-estate, construction, hospitality, logistics, landscaping, architecture and interior design sectors.
