Tori Olphin is an experienced Head of Research and Chief Data Scientist, and Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society with specialisations in predictive algorithm design in the public sector, in designing and running randomised controlled trials in live public sector environments, and in development of change management processes to allow for what works to be embedded in public sector organisations.She has previously built predictive solutions for resource management, solvability-based case allocation and domestic abuse risk assessment, and has tested such algorithmic tools using randomised controlled trials. In addition, Tori has worked on between 200 and 250 research projects in the public sector as a quantitative researcher and advisor, including designing and implementing 7 randomised controlled trials across policing, social care and education. Based on the insight she has obtained into the public sector research process, she has designed and implemented a research project lifecycle within Thames Valley Violence Prevention Partnership; a methodology that she would like to see expanded throughout the UK public sector as a project management approach to consistent delivery of high quality research into what works in preventing harm.Her understanding on the interaction between AI tools and public sector needs and outcomes, combined with an understanding of research and change management sets her as a strong problem solver, able to advise on, build and use appropriate research, technology and data science tools to ensure lasting solutions to public sector problems.In 2024, Tori was awarded an MBE for services to technology in the public sector.
