The heart of this effort was the development of a material movement system. After its' successful completion, I lead the project to install an enhanced version at our Callaway Chemical Plant in Columbus Georgia. The applications were built on Exxon's in house control system called CX, with Reliance PLCs as the front end. Both projects were completed on time and on budget. Excluding field equipment, the engineering and hardware were about $750,000 for each project.Tested the performance of Honeywell's PMX IV process control computer software. This was the latest version of PMX which can coexist with their TDC-3000 based systems via the AMX gateway.Evaluated Rosemount RS3 control system and worked on projects in France and Canada using this system.Represented PPED at Exxon Chemical North American Process Control Meetings. Lead applications engineering effort to migrate the control applications running on a Fischer & Porter process control computer to Honeywell PMX II. The regulatory controls remained Foxboro Spec 200, while additional inputs were brought into Honeywell HLPIUs. The project scope included the controls for the existing tubular reactors and a new extruder. Learned to speak conversational Dutch.

Acted as technical consultant on use of Honeywell Multi-Function Controllers, PIUs and PMX control computer systems.Configured all the logic and controls for the transfer of granules and pellets for the finishing section of the polymers plant. Built the PMX data base for the finishing area. Trained Saudi operators. Actively participated in the start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting of the grassroots plastics plant.

Reviewed the functional and detailed design specifications for the PMX II Release 2. Honeywell/Exxon joint development. The major enhancement of Release 2 was the added interface to Honeywell's Multi-Function Controller, originally referred to as the Honeywell Smart Batch Controller.Wrote the test procedures to be used by Honeywell for testing the Release 2 software.Jointly developed, with Dr. Richard Lasher, a Multi-Function controller training course for Exxon personnel.
