Tom Amon has successfully represented clients in all aspects of complex commercial and real estate litigation, including discovery, trials, negotiations, and mediations. With a focus on the “big picture,” Tom draws on his experience across many practices areas and collaboration with his fellow WN&J attorneys to assist clients in identifying potential risks, assessing the merits of their case, and developing a strategy for achieving their goals– whether by litigation, negotiation, or other legal strategy. Tom is a longstanding member of WN&J’s litigation, class action defense and real estate practice groups. He is the co-chair of WNJ’s real estate litigation practice group. His practice extends to all manners of real estate litigation practice, including quiet title, riparian rights, boundary disputes, mortgages, foreclosures, zoning violations, municipal land use approvals, purchase and option disputes, FOIA requests, tax appeals, and lease disputes. Tom is well-versed in Michigan condemnation law. In addition to real estate litigation, Tom has wide-ranging commercial litigation experience, especially class action defense. He regularly assists financial institutions, manufacturers, and other corporate clients in all aspects of complex commercial litigation. He has handled a broad variety of UCC and non-UCC contract disputes, and has defended clients against shareholder claims, including claims for breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. He also defends clients against class action lawsuits. Tom has extensive practice before state and federal courts, local and municipal boards and commissions, state administrative boards and tribunals, and in the Michigan Court of Appeals.
