Communications director for Connecticut Audubon and author of This Fine Piece of Water: An Environmental History of Long Island Sound (Yale University Press). At Connecticut Audubon, we specialize in focused donor-center communications along with broader messaging to the general public.We know how to get good press: we were in the state's biggest newspapers and broadcast outlets well over 100 times in 2019 and 2018. We've established the most active and effective social media program among Connecticut environmental organizations, and increased membership and fundraising.In addition to the press responsibilities, I'm responsible for Connecticut Audubon's direct email to members and supporters, website, and social media.I worked with the Save the Sound and its local board to fund, establish and staff the organization's Western Long Island Sound office, in Mamaroneck.Previously, I was as head of projects and communications at Westchester Land Trust during a decade when budget and revenues rose from $250,000 to $1 million-plus and the amount of land the organization protected increased from 900 acres to 6,000 acres.Other clients have included the Garrison Institute, Soundkeeper, Connecticut Fund for the Environment, Children's Environmental Literacy Foundation, Audubon New York, and the New Canaan Historical Society. I did volunteer press and publicity work for the Norwalk River Rowing Association's youth team.I co-curated Modern in Pound Ridge: 20th Century Architecture + Lifestyle for the Pound Ridge Historical Society in 2017.
