Graduated w/ a BFA Degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, KS 1976, and later won the Judith Richardson Scholarship in 1986, from Adams State College, towards my MFA. I Turned down the scholarship to pursue my interest in painting Traditional paintings. I eventually completed years of self study in the school of HARD KNOCKS. I then decided to take painting workshops from several professional artists, such as the late, Ted Goerschner, Ray Vinella, Lowell Ellsworth Smith, & Irvine Shapiro. Later took a workshop from Skip Whitcomb and Wayne Wolfe. As a self employed artist , (I like others artists), put in many hours of practice & work to improve my skills. I will challenge myself to try different mediums, Oils, Pastels & Watercolors. I also challenged myself to paint different subjects including wildlife & still life. But primarily I am a Traditional/Representational Landscape painter. I Enjoy working from life, (En-Plein-Air) when possible, which helps me create studio painting with more accuracy. I hold true to my principles and beliefs. Keep an extensive list of books from the Old Masters as well as contemporary Established painters. Would love to travel more and paint on location. I have Taught painting workshops in Oils Watercolors & Pastels both in the studio & outdoor on location, I’ve taught at the Steamboat Art Museum, Steamboat Springs, CO the Fechin Institute in Taos NM. Barnsite Studios in Kawaunee,WI. Cottonwood Academy, Colorado Springs, CO, Flinthills Workshop, Cottonwood, KS. The Palco Art Group, Stockton, KS. Amelia Island Workshops in Fernandina Beach, FL and Private Workshops through, "The Heart & Eagle Workshops" in Canon City, CO. I’ve traveled & taught in Maine, Texas, New Mexico and throughout Colorado. I have won the Silver Medal (twice) in 10 years for Region III in the National Arts for the Parks.
