My initial appointment as Regional Health & Safety Advisor gave me the responsibility to advise on all aspects of HSE for the business within the South and East of the country. CBES are a large multi divisional, organisation carrying out construction projects in various sectors including supermarket retail, car showroom, care homes and schools.The role responsibilities and duties included the formulation of all site safety documentation inclusive of Construction Phase Plans, risk assessments and method statements and other documented safe systems of work.I am also responsible for on site monitoring via safety inspections and audits to regulate compliance with legal requirements and company procedures and standards (ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.The role allows for autonomy and ownership of safety within the region and hence analysis of statistics to drive improvement is a key part of the role. I would use the data driven by stats/KPI's to drive focus topics throughout the region I as responsible for.I also offer assistance to a different part of the Group, namely City FM. I act as the 'Lead' HSE Advisor on the BP contract. This is currently the most prestigious Client with greatest workload and highest risk factor. I have successfully driven the safety agenda allowing for two additional contract extensions including the longest framework agreement that any BP/Maintenance Contractor have had.In addition, I also carry out an array of training services both internally and externally to colleagues, contractors and clients alike. These range from the Site Safety Plus courses offered by the National Construction College, to IOSH courses, UKATA asbestos courses and also UKPIA Petrol Forecourt Courses. I have also delivered bespoke courses as well as Face Fit, Harness and Abrasive Wheels.
