Also successfully led programs creating novel leads blocking the IL-17 and IL-6 pathways.

Led Drug Repositioning and Selection Division, managing 40 people including 12 Ph.D.s; responsible for all scientific, operational and budgetary functions. Through evangelism and conference organization, drove creation of the Drug Repositioning field; successfully supported deals with Pfizer, Roche, Organon, Lilly, Abbott, Lundbeck, Merck Serono and Solvay.As Vice President, Discovery, co-led establishment of Drug Repositioning and Selection (DRS) Division and business strategy; built group of 20+ people including 6 Ph.D.s to create the world’s first systematic drup repositioning platform; led the creation of technology platforms in metabolomics, informatics and ADME; led operational management of the Cambridge site.

With Lou Tartaglia, designed business model and platform, and successfully spun out group.As Senior Scientist, Genomic Pharmacology, devised the company strategy for “moving genomics downstream” into Preclinical activities (ADME/T) and led deals for SNP database and Toxicogenomics data providers.As Senior Scientist, Knowledge Management, co-led inaugural KM group that defined KM priorities and strategy and drove implementation of practises.As Senior Scentist, Millennium Biotherapeutics, led gene discovery group for secreted proteins, significantly increased output and discovered over 200 full-length genes for which patent applications were submitted; wrote internal white paper on human gene number that was widely influential in shaping Millennium’s genomics land-grab strategy; and provided key scientific Business Development support for various deal and in-licensing discussions
