Initially, as an independent consultant, asked to bootstrap the transformation of Cigna to Agile by leading a highly visible clinical engineering effort with a team of 250+ technologists, building their market differentiating flagship Clinical product permitting the business to utilize predictive analytics declaratively to help manage the health and behaviors of members. This resulting in significant cost savings to Cigna’s clients. The successful completion of this on-time and under-budget large project (first in 10 years) using pure Agile started Cigna’s Agile journey. With that success, next asked to lead Cigna’s strategically important mobile development teams by delivering Cigna’s first mobile product in both native iOS and Android called “MyCigna Mobile.” It had (2014) well over 500,000 downloads, a 4+ rating. The success prompted more investment in mobile including the international effort noted below. Team size ~50.With the addition of a European team, built Cigna’s first iOS and Android app targeted for the international market in a very compressed time frame. This required solving for multi-lingual, multi-locale and multi-platform challenges. This effort received the accolades of the international and domestic CIOs positioning Cigna to aggressively pursue global markets which provided the impetus to merge the original Mobile Core Team to a much larger Global Solutions Group all following Agile delivery. Additionally, member of the Information Security team as a Java language expert, committee member of the enterprise Open Source Working group and advisor to their newly formed Enterprise Agile Alliance.
