Leading Surrey’s 12 local authorities to maximise environmental and financial benefits from waste management by working together. Helped achieve the joint highest recycling rate in England for a county area by leading the authorities to deliver an ambitious programme of partnership work, including award winning communications campaigns and industry-leading recycling improvements at flats.Made partnership working easier and more attractive for the authorities by establishing an innovative new governance framework for joint initiatives.Improved the incentive for partner authorities to reduce waste and increase recycling by creating a new savings sharing mechanism, replacing statutory recycling credits. Influenced national waste and resource policy by representing a major industry association (NAWDO) at key meetings with the government. Raised the profile of the partnership by presenting at major conferences and events.

Provided high quality waste management advice and services to the public and private sectors. Part of a team involved in supervising the change of contractor for Norfolk’s recycling centres. Roles and responsibilities included:- Inspecting sites and solving compliance issues with the contractor- Responding to queries and complaints from the public- Reviewing and improving the Norfolk County Council waste management website
