MRPC BuyIn this placement I worked managing part of the external supply chain relating to Electronics. I managed a number of suppliers including ATEC, focusing on their delivery into Rolls-Royce. I worked with other functions of the business to solve problems that affected my suppliers making on time deliveries in full.MRPC MakeAfter working with the exterior supply chain, my following placement was based in an internal manufacturing plant. Whereas as before, i was focussed on delivery from external vendors, here it was key that I interface with all the essential manufacturing staff in order to achieve on time delivery for both the internal customer and the external customer by working to reduce lead times and increase throughput.Global Physical Logistics ControllerHaving a strong understanding of both the flow of parts internally and externally, GPL enabled me to develop my knowledge of the physical transportation and storage of both engines and parts around the world. During this placement, I was in charge of developing a costing strategy for the transportation of a major engine to numerous different bases around the world. I also worked on developing processes in order to better manage the storage of parts/tooling that are dormant. Another project I managed was collating the total spend on transport and devising ways that this could be reduced in the future. This culminated with me presenting it to the seniors within GPL and it is currently being used now.Engine Clearance Team ProfessionalFor this role, I had to work with the MRPCs to develop plans for parts that were going to impact engines when they arrived to be overhauled. By working in tandem with MRPCs and other Engine Clearance Teams, mitigation of the at risk parts was continually achieved and engines were overhauled on time. Along side the day to day activities, I developed a process for the Engine Clearance Team to follow, thus allowing for ease of understanding for new starters.
